In addition to Sunday, the Catholic Church designates six dates on the liturgical calendar as Holy Days of Obligation: The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (January 1), the Ascension of the Lord (40 days after Easter Sunday), the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15), All Saints Day (November 1), the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8), and the Nativity of the Lord (December 25). With the exception of Christmas, Mass will be held at 8:00 AM, Noon, and 7:00 PM in the Church unless the Holy Day falls on a weekend.
Depending upon the day of the week on which each date falls, the bishops’ conference may determine that attending Sunday Mass fulfills the obligation for the Holy Day. Please check the parish bulletin as each date approaches for more information.

Children's Liturgy
(There is currently no Children's Liturgy of the Word during COVID)
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is for children Pre-K through 4th grade and is offered at the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, September through May. There is no cost to participate and no pre-registration required. Father invites the children to come forward immediately following the opening prayer and they are dismissed from the Church along with their Catechists and Aides. While away, the children listen to the same readings that adults hear proclaimed at Mass, but on a child’s level. Following the Gospel and in lieu of the homily, the children participate in a explanation and discussion of the scripture, and if time allows, the Prayer of the Faithful (intercessions). At the conclusion of their time, a family friendly leaflet is distributed to help reinforce the scripture lesson for the day, provide information for family discussion and a suggestion on how to put the Word into action. The leaflet also provides a fun activity for the children to complete.
Parents are warmly invited to temporarily accompany their shy/hesitant child to help them become comfortable in this program until they are ready to go on their own. All adults serving in children’s ministries in our parish participate in training through the Office of Catechesis, complete a diocesan mandated background check and a Child Protection Workshop. If you are an adult considering this ministry, please contact the Office of Catechesis for more information.
