“God will not allow your foot to slip; your guardian does not sleep”. Psalm 121:3, NAB
I’m not a fan of icy weather; I have a tendency of slipping…a lot. Not a lot of fun. As I lay on the ground checking the sky and my body for broken pieces, I wonder about this verse. So we have to keep these words in context. Every step we take in life is guarded; God does not sleep, He’s always watching and in many cases in preventive mode. So we must be honest and really THINK of moments where we were forewarned and did not pay attention or listen at all. I bet we may find something. In my case there is usually a moment of calm thought before an event. An inner voice that warns be careful, take your time…and like most people I ignore it, and BAM! I’m on my back. Then I question, “Why did God let this happen to me?” Instead I should have questioned myself, “Why didn’t I take my time? Why wasn’t I more careful? I KNEW it maybe slippery out, was it that important?” I think you get my drift. Many times we ignore a thought, our conscience, and even good advice from others God places in our lives. And even when we do this God is with us. As I lay there He’s laying next to me…”How’d that feel? Bet you wished you would have listened to that ‘please be careful’ thought I gave you.” Oh and don’t EVEN think about blaming your guardian angel. Ummm, did you read Tobit (in the Old Testament) as I suggested? Sometimes we get very specific instructions from God and or his angels. They are meant to be followed for a reason, and we must make the conscious effort to trust and follow them, or things can end up very badly, or intended blessings may not happen. God holds all His children in the palm of His hands; and will not allow our feet to slip. But He respects our free will and will not force us to follow a path…even if it’s safer for us.
Until next time…Communication is key. If something isn’t clear, than we should ask for clarification, even if it’s from God...luv ya!
